Rupali Ganguly Calls for Turkey Boycott Amid Operation Sindoor Tensions

adminBy adminMay 15, 2025

Television star and BJP member Rupali Ganguly has publicly urged Indians to cancel their travel plans to Turkey, citing the country’s support for Pakistan during the recent Operation Sindoor. This military operation, launched by India in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ganguly appealed to fellow celebrities, influencers, and travelers:

“Can we please cancel our bookings for Turkey? This is my request to all Indian Celebs/Influencers/Travellers. This is the least we can do as Indians. #BoycottTurkey”

Her statement resonated with many, leading to widespread support on social media. Users praised her for taking a stand, with some sharing that they had canceled their own trips to Turkey in solidarity. The hashtags #BoycottTurkey and #SupportIndianForces trended across platforms.

The backlash isn’t limited to individuals. Indian travel agencies, including MakeMyTrip and EaseMyTrip, have reported a significant drop in bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan, with cancellations increasing by 250% over the past week. Many agencies have suspended new bookings to these countries, advising travelers to consider alternative destinations.

The entertainment industry has also responded. Singer Vishal Mishra announced the cancellation of his concerts in Turkey and Azerbaijan, stating:

“Never ever going to #Turkey and #Azerbaijan! No leisure, no concerts! Mark my words! Never!!”

Additionally, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has banned film shoots in Turkey, warning of strict action against violators.

Ganguly’s call to action underscores a broader national sentiment of unity and resistance against perceived adversaries. As tensions continue, many Indians are reevaluating their international engagements, emphasizing national solidarity over leisure and commerce.
