Preity Zinta reflects on life and attachment after third Maha Kumbh visit

February 26, 2025

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta recently attended the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, marking her third pilgrimage to this significant spiritual gathering. Accompanied by her mother, Zinta immersed herself in the sacred Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Reflecting on her experience, Zinta described the visit as “magical, heartwarming, and a bit sad.” She expressed the indescribable nature of her emotions during the pilgrimage and highlighted the joy of sharing this journey with her mother, emphasizing its profound significance to her family.

However, the visit also prompted deep introspection. Zinta revealed her desire for spiritual liberation from the cycles of life and death, only to confront the challenges posed by her attachments to loved ones. She questioned her readiness to detach from her family and children, acknowledging the powerful bonds that tie her to them.

This realization led her to contemplate the solitary nature of one’s spiritual journey. Zinta mused on the strength of attachments and concluded that, despite these bonds, the path ahead is ultimately an individual endeavor. She shared her evolving perspective, stating, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a human experience.”

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which commenced on January 13, 2025, is renowned as one of the world’s largest religious congregations, drawing millions of devotees seeking spiritual cleansing and enlightenment. Zinta’s participation underscores the event’s universal appeal, transcending the boundaries between public figures and the general populace, united in their quest for spiritual growth and understanding.

In sharing her journey, Zinta offers a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between worldly attachments and the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment, a duality that resonates with many on the path of self-discovery.
