Trump’s special gift for ‘friend’ Modi, signs it ‘Mr Prime Minister, you are great’

February 14, 2025

In a gesture highlighting the camaraderie between the United States and India, President Donald Trump presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a signed copy of his coffee table book, “Our Journey Together,” during their meeting at the White House on February 13, 2025. The inscription read, “Mr. Prime Minister, you are great,” underscoring the personal rapport between the two leaders.

The 320-page book is a visual compilation of significant moments from Trump’s presidency, featuring photographs from events such as the ‘Howdy Modi’ rally in Houston in 2019 and the ‘Namaste Trump’ event in Ahmedabad in 2020. These events were landmark moments in U.S.-India relations, drawing massive crowds and showcasing the deepening ties between the two nations.

In addition to the book, President Trump announced plans to supply India with F-35 stealth fighter jets, marking a significant advancement in defense cooperation. He emphasized the commitment to strengthening military sales to India, pledging billions of dollars worth of hardware to bolster the defense relationship.

The meeting also featured mutual admiration, with President Trump praising Prime Minister Modi’s negotiating skills, stating, “He is a much tougher negotiator than me, and he is a much better negotiator than me. There is not even a contest.” Prime Minister Modi reciprocated by aligning India’s developmental vision with Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan, coining ‘Make India Great Again’ and highlighting the ‘MEGA’ partnership for prosperity between the two nations.

This exchange of gifts and affirmations underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United States and India, focusing on defense collaboration, economic ties, and shared democratic values.
